Nomad & Local clients

When working as a Digital Nomad you have typical secured at large international client with recurring tasks for you, that support the lifestyle you have chosen. In my situation, I had booked a full work schedule for several months with one single client, so I don’t have sell myself on regular basis.

That’s how my recent nomad adventure started. I had my current client booked before moving out of my home country and I didn’t needed any other clients, but some times you’re lucky and dig up small new clients. As I did here in southern France.

When you arrive in a new place, you’re always curious about what that area has to offer. Facebook groups is a good place to connect with fellow Nomads / ExPats and I did just that. Joined an English speaking group in my current area, introduced myself as a freelance IT guy living the Nomad life, and BAM. Quickly an English speaking resident needed a person with my skills that could speak more than just french … Well, my french is limited to Bonjour and Oui Madame.

Anyway, long story short. I got a new side hustle providing Internet/WiFi upgrade for his company and when he found out that I’m also a photographer more small gigs landed in my basket ….

The take away from this small story of my life is (according to me): Be nice and helpful, no gig is too small, and hopefully your reputation spreads like rings in the water and more clients want your services.
